Land Reunion Commons

A resource hub for the field

The Land Reunion Commons is a living library and open knowledge commons devoted to the many pathways of reuniting people and place, including rematriation, reparations, stewardship, and beyond. It was created as an offering to a growing movement that is remembering how to live in right relationship with Land, guided by values of reciprocity, reverence, and repair.

The Commons honors multiple worldviews and centers cultural reunion, kinship relations, and Indigenous-led leadership. It uplifts the lived experiences of Black, Brown, and other systemically oppressed communities who are shaping new ways of belonging to Land. The Commons recognizes that there is no single path to reunion. Each pathway is rooted in distinct cultural, spiritual, and practical traditions that deserve care and respect.

The Commons gathers stories, frameworks, maps, and practice tools that support both land seekers and landholders in journeys of reconnection, return, and shared stewardship. It exists to harvest and amplify what is already being imagined and enacted across the field, including the models, teachings, and collaborations that embody ethical, culturally grounded, and regenerative relationships with Land.

A Living and Growing Commons

The Land Reunion Commons is still young. This first publication marks its initial iteration, offered with humility and openness as a starting place rather than a finished archive. The Commons is designed to grow and evolve over time, shaped by the wisdom, experiences, and contributions of those engaged in land reunion work across many contexts. As the field continues to deepen, this space will expand to reflect new learnings, emergent practices, and shared insights, remaining responsive to the living nature of Land and relationship itself.
